It’s business as usual for DeVon Franklin. Franklin Entertainment’s President and Chief Executive has renewed his lucrative deal with CBS Studios, where he holds a first-look TV deal. Within the overall deal, Franklin, who at one time was linked to Will Smith’s camp, will executive produce drama series Early Edition, according to Deadline.
Franklin made a name for himself as a rising producer at Sony Pictures. Joining the likes of Dallas, Texas reverend TD Jakes and Atlanta filmmaker Tyler Perry, Franklin became known for producing faith-based films appealing to the Christian and spiritual demographics.
His first mainstream feature film called Miracles from Heaven is based on the inspiring true story of Christy and Anna Beam who miraculously recovered from an incurable disease. The film starred Jennifer Garner, Queen Latifah, Eugenio Derbez, John Carroll Lynch, and Kylie Rogers. Franklin followed up the Columbia Pictures distributed film with The Star and Breakthrough.
A man of multiple talents that have led him to authoring several books and touring as a motivational speaker, Franklin is currently producing the music-based television series Kingdom Business, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look into the world of the gospel music industry. Yolanda Adams, Tamar Braxton, Serayah, Michael Beach, Michael Jai White, and Larry D. Reid are all attached to be featured in the series.
In 2021, Franklin announced that he was working on the unique biopic Flamin’ Hot, a story that chronicles the invention of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos by Frito Lay janitor Richard Montanez.
Franklin has made headlines recently for ending his 9-year marriage to Harlem actress Meagan Good.
