The Power universe just got a bit stronger. Trailblazing director Deon Taylor shared on Instagram that he will be a part of the third spinoff of the franchise, Power Book IV: Force. In a post with actor Joseph Sikora made at the top of the week, Taylor thanked music artist and G-Unit Film and Television executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for the opportunity to direct.
“Thank you, you are one in a million, you are amazing, you are a superstar,” Taylor said. “Connecting me to this. To be able to shoot Force — Power, with my brother, man, and you. Come home. It’s just absolutely amazing, man.”
Power Book IV: Force will follow Tommy Egan, the beloved character played by Sikora, as he transitions into a new life that leaves behind his mob ties and relentless reputation in the gritty underworld of New York. Grammy-nominated singer Jeremih, Gabrielle Ryan (The Have and Have Nots), and Kris D. Lofton (Ballers) are attached to star alongside Sikora.
So far, the five-series Power franchise includes the original Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Force, and Power Book V: Influence. Power Book IV: Force will premiere in 2022.
Taylor’s announcement comes on the heels of showrunner Robert Munic exiting the project in early July on amicable terms. In another IG post made early on Wednesday, Taylor revealed the cover of his Director’s Plan binder, showing what appeared to be a bible for episode 10 of the series. Taylor gave 50 Cent props on breaking down doors in the industry, calling the entertainer “the real deal.”
“There is no question why you are so successful and why you are beating the doors down and creating new opportunities and winning in the space right now,” Taylor said. “It’s because you’re the real deal, man.”
