If DaBaby wasn’t a household name before, he’s certainly making a loud case for it. Fresh off the Rolling Loud fiasco that temporarily expelled the “Blame It On Baby” rapper from a lineup of performances, DaBaby is back at his professional hustle again.
He recently released his new six-track EP, Back On My Baby Jesus Sh!t AGAIN — and just like a pro would do, DaBaby fell off the stage while performing in Las Vegas. The audience went crazy when DaBaby, twirling a bottle of liquid while jumping, missed a step and went straight down into the crowd.
The fans started aggressively touching the artist and he lost his ring worth more than a few thousand dollars. Despite the fall, DaBaby continued to perform and was helped back onto the stage. A woman found his ring and kindly returned it to an ever-so-grateful DaBaby. Later, DaBaby would confirm that the fall was a result of his slippery Louis Vuitton shoes. It happens.
Watch The Tumble Below:
As for the EP, DaBaby is not taking “No” for an answer. Starting with the one-minute track “DRAWS,” Jonathan Kirk finesses the bars with hard-hitting punchlines, delivering exactly what we expect from the bass-happy entertainer. Still cocky, his cryptic lyrics pinpoint those who he feels don’t quite keep it a buck.
He raps, “The police, they keep hatin’ / I know she ain’t love me so I prolly bought her a cheap bracelet / H–s say they love you today, have a whole ‘nother bae in a weekend.”
He follows up with a mid-tempo “5 For A Dub,” a London on da Track produced “Roof,” and “Look Like Sumn,” where he references “a couple of baby mamas” after stating that he’s not “worried about none of that s–t.”
“Levels,” featuring Kodak Black is already a standout on the mixtape, sure to be interpreted as a raunchy love letter to DaniLeigh. The only other feature is 21 Savage on “Sticked Up,” a slower-paced track that honestly stands out for the beat, moreso than anything else.
Overall, Back On My Baby Jesus Sh!t AGAIN seems to be DaBaby’s rebellion against “cancel culture” in that he is blatantly showing the industry that “ain’t nothing stopping over here.”
Case in point, DaBaby is staying busy with 25 upcoming tour dates, including at the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on Nov. 26, Miller High Life Theatre in Milwaukee on Nov. 27, The Albany Capital Center in New York on Nov. 30, and The Met Philadelphia on Dec. 2.
And while the fall on stage and his recent domestic debacle with on-again-off-again lover DaniLeigh continues to keep his name ringing in the mouths of spectators, the question begs whether all this publicity will be enough to revive his slow dying career?
Back On My Baby Jesus Sh!t AGAIN is available on Apple Music, YouTube, and all music platforms now.
