DaBaby Encounters Another Run-In With The Law After Altercation With Promoter

Grammy-nominated artist DaBaby was arrested in Miami late on Thursday. DaBaby, real name Jonathan Kirk, is being accused of assaulting a promoter after he was allegedly duped out of $10,000 for his performance.

According to DaBaby, the music promoter said he would pay the “Suge” rapper $30,000, but paid $20,000 instead. TMZ reports that the rapper and his entourage allegedly poured liquid on the promoter and then took his iPhone, credit card and some cash. Another person involved in the incident claimed that he was punched in the face.

DaBaby was booked at the Miami-Dade county jail around midnight. Upon his arrest for the incident, police found that DaBaby, 28, had an outstanding warrant for a battery charge from Texas.

Details have not been fully disclosed on the battery charge. He is now being detained until he makes a court appearance.

DaBaby was in Miami for a performance he did on New Year’s Eve.

This is the second run-in with the law in the last month for the rising star. On Dec. 23, DaBaby was in his hometown Charlotte, North Carolina when he was detained by officers for marijuana possession at the Bojangles Arena.

He ultimately received a citation and was released after police found less than a half ounce on him.

The “Baby On Baby” rapper has openly discussed his belief that he is a target and the victim of unfair treatment by the police.

DaBaby has been having a great year in music, breaking onto the Billboard Charts Top 10 and releasing two studio albums. He’s also built a reputation on being philanthropic, randomly giving out money and gifts to strangers in need.
