Da Brat getting hitched is definitely a newsworthy moment for hip hop. The “Funkdafied” rapper-turned-Dish Nation host showed out with her partner Jessica “Judy” Dupart in a Fairburn, Georgia wedding.
The lovebirds were married in front of a star-studded audience of 100 guests including the likes of Jermaine Dupri, and Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
The romantic occasion kicked off with Da Brat and Judy being escorted to the Horse Mansion in all-white horse-drawn carriages. Brat wore a hybrid suit dress with a rippled train, while Dupart donned a stunning bridal gown from Texas designer Esé Azénabor.
Dupri and Judy’s brother, Damon Dupart Sr., walked the couple down the aisle as WEtv cameras filmed the entire ceremony, which was also captured in exclusive photos from People. During the reception, Rickey Smiley joined Da Brat for the father-daughter dance, while fellow Dish Nation peers Eva Marcille and Headkrack looked on.
The future beyond the matrimony appear bright for the couple. The newlyweds plan to honeymoon in Turks and Caicos. Meanwhile, they will be awaiting the birth of their first child together. Judy, 40, has three children from a previous relationship.
At the age of 47, Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, is proving that anyone can have it all despite the past and all life’s turbulence. Not only does she have a new union, a new baby, and a reinvented career, Brat continues to build a legacy and be an example for all those who are part of the LGBTQA+ community by living her truth out loud. Congrats!
