Clippers Owner Purchases Inglewood’s The Forum In $400 Million Deal

The LA Clippers will have its own arena. Clippers owner Steve Ballmer secured The Forum in Inglewood from James Dolan’s Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. for a whopping $400 million on Monday.

The purchase was made through Ballmer’s company CAPSS LLC. The Clippers will be released from their lease at the Staples Center in 2024.

The Forum, most famous for music concerts, will continue to operate as a live entertainment venue.

“We are excited to welcome The Forum to our family,” said Gillian Zucker, the Clippers president of business operations. “The talented team at The Forum has created a world-class live entertainment venue, and we are committed to building upon that reputation.”

“Having The Forum just a short distance from the L.A. Clippers’ new arena will give us the opportunity to provide the City of Inglewood with a number of benefits, including a collaborative approach to managing traffic and community activities,” he continued.

The purchase ended litigation to prevent the Clippers organization from building its own facilities. Now, the Clippers will be able to build a planned state-of-the-art, 18,000 seat arena.
