The city of Chicago will be hosting the 69th annual NBA All-Star Weekend with Common and Chance The Rapper set to contribute to the grand event. The NBA made the announcement on Thursday that the Chicago natives will be a part of the main event that takes place on Sunday, Feb. 16.
Common will open the All-Star Game with an introduction and announcement of the All-Star players. Chance The Rapper, who is also serving as an All-Star ambassador, will be performing during halftime.
This will be the third time that Chicago has hosted a NBA All-Star Game, with the last All-Star Game hosted in the windy city taking place in 1988.
Taylor Bennett, Chance The Rapper’s younger brother, is also set to perform during halftime at the Rising Stars game on Friday, Feb. 14.
Common, 47, recently performed for inmates at a California Rehabilitation Center in Norco. The Grammy-winning artist has made it a life mission to serve social justice causes and meaningful messages with his craft.
Chance The Rapper, 26, canceled his highly anticipated 2020 tour to focus more on his family. To satiate his fans, the rapper headlined at Rolling Loud Los Angeles on Dec. 14.
Fans may submit their votes for All-Star players on Christmas day through NBA.com or the NBA app. Google will also allows fans to vote on their platform.
