Court documents revealed the financial affairs of the late actor Chadwick Boseman’s estate. The Black Panther lead’s estate is valued over $3.8 million before expenditures. His wife, musician Taylor Simone Ledward, has been appointed administrator of the estate, acting on the behalf of Boseman as the person of authority over his finances.
Boseman died at the age of 43 on August 28, 2020 after a four-year battle with colon cancer. At the time of his death, he did not have a will or testament to designate his assets. Since Boseman’s death, the estate has accrued over $203,000 in residual payments.
Expenses requested to be reimbursed by the estate include funeral costs amounting in $50,471, which include expenditures for a mausoleum space for Boseman and his parents at the Forest Lawn Memorial in Anderson, South Carolina. About 93% of the expenses have been approved for reimbursement.
Distribution was also made to cover any remaining bills and legal fees, resulting in an estate value of $2.3 million, which Ledward is requesting for the court to approve her decision to split the estate equally between her and Boseman’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman. The split would give Ledward 50% of the estate and 25% to each parent.
Other details revealed in the financial records showed that Boseman’s federal taxes were paid in full, “all assets have been inventoried and no additional assets have been received.”
Ledward and Boseman married a few months before he passed after four years of dating.
