Cardi B came out this Friday blazing a fiery trail of social media discussion when she dropped her new music video for “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion. Among the commentary, California Republican James P. Bradley expressed disdain for the raunchy song.
“Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion are what happens when children are raised without God and without a strong father figure,” Bradley posted. “Their new ‘song’ The #WAP (which i heard accidentally) made me want to pour holy water in my ears and I feel sorry for future girls if this is their role model!”
Our thoughts on that, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have the right to express themselves as they wish and so does Mr. Bradley. Not everyone is going to look down on the ladies and not everyone is going to look up to them, either. Now, here’s our short list of memorable moments from the “WAP” video.
The Fountain. Did you see it? It looked like something that came out of the Halle Berry led 1997 movie BAPS and it was spectacular. See for yourself.
The Water Pool Scene. The colors were so 1980s, but the lace fronts were so futuristic. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion did that! They had the wet and wavy hair with the baby bangs, so it just made sense to complete the outfits with black leather, reminding us once again why they are at the top of their game.
Kylie Jenner. Woah, woah, woah. What a surprise it was when the makeup guru made her presence known as she donned a long, leopard dress. Her fierce face cut us deep and her eyes said everything we needed to know! So, for all those who speculated that Megan and Kylie were going through over a dude, well guess again. (Yikes, Tory Lanez).
The Stripper Version of the Willy Wonka Factory. Surrounded by hypnotizing pipes and green and purple dressed dancers, the scene looked like a room in the Willy Wonka Factory. Playful and entertaining, the gushy dance routine that Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion did together brought us all kind of feelings.
The Hoard of Bad Girls. Thank goodness for women empowerment, right? Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion shared the stage with their fellow music compadres that included Spanish singer Rosalía, rappers Sukihana, Mulatto, Normani and Rubi Rose.
There’s no reason to hate on these group of upcoming rappers. They’re beautiful and can hold their own. But, the manufactured commercial message that women await in a room dying to fulfill someone’s nasty desires is one to question, debate and protest.
