Our favorite hood horror film Candyman has a new teaser trailer and release date. Amid theatres announcing that they will be reopening late summer, early fall, Candyman warns us to “tell everyone” in a teaser that delves into the origin of the story that is embedded in racism.
The teaser uses the shadows of puppets to uncover the painful past of the hooked urban legend. The 1992 remake directed by Nia DaCosta is a “spiritual sequel” that chronicles the return to the now-gentrified neighborhood of the Cabrini Green projects.
The Universal Pictures, MGM and Monkeypaw Productions film stars Teyonah Parris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Colman Domingo, Vanessa Williams and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.
The original release date was June 12, but moved back to September after theatres closed due to pandemic concerns.
The Jordan-Peele film will hit theatres on September 25.
