Bounce King 5th Ward Weebie Passes Away At 42

New Orleans Bounce rapper 5th Ward Weebie, born Jerome Cosey, has passed away. He was 42.

Several fans gathered together at the Zulu Club in New Orleans to mourn the death of the Bounce music artist. The “Let Me Find Out” rapper died from complications after having a heart attack.

The details of Weebie’s death was confirmed by New Orleans rapper and peer to Weebie, P Town Moe.

โ€œFirst his kidneys went and they had him on a machine to get his kidneys back working, then his lungs went the next day,โ€ P Town Moe said. โ€œI donโ€™t know why God wanted him at this time, but my brother gone.โ€

Weebie has collaborated with hip hop artists Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Mike Jones, Kane & Abel, Partnerz n’ Crime and Mystikal, to name a few.

His music was a hit in southern states, playing in clubs and at HBCUs. The Mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell, made a statement about the legendary Louisiana artist.

Tributes to the star that passed too soon flooded social media.

โ€œIt broke my heart to learn that Jerome Cosey, our 5th Ward Weebie, has passed,” Cantrell said. “Let Me Find Out you didn’t know who he was. He was an iconic personality, a New Orleans legend, and a beloved friend. He was the Bounce King, who showed us how to move, how to love, and how to bring passion and humanity to everything we do…New Orleans has lost a cornerstone of our culture. Our city will not be the same without his voice and his spirit. May he rest in Godโ€™s perfect peace.โ€
