Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation and Tina Knowles #IDIDMYPART campaign are coming together to bring Houstonians COVID-19 relief on the go. Through the #IDIDMYPART Mobile Testing Relief Campaign, residents will gain access to 1,000 coronavirus test kits, face masks, gloves and high-demand household products.
The testing will take place at Cullen Middle School and Forrest Brook Middle School between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9.
People who want the free testing will be able to stay in their vehicles at the testing sites. Those who are tested will be given free gift cards and vouchers to H-E-B grocery store, Frenchy’s Chicken or Burns Original Bar-B-Q.
“We are all in this together. But we have to look at what is happening in our black and brown communities and how they are being decimated by COVID-19,” Tina Knowles said. “It is critical that we stay vigilant with social distancing, wearing a mask, and most of all getting tested. If you don’t get tested then you don’t know if you are a carrier of the virus. Being asymptomatic is how you infect your entire household and those around you, the very people you love. We have got to go to these free testing facilities and find out our status.”
Tyler Perry will be following Knowles Lawson’s lead by setting up his own #IDIDMYPART campaign in Atlanta, Georgia.
Recently, BeyGOOD partnered with Twitter’s Jack Dorsey to create the #StartSmall relief fund of $6 million, donated to several impacted communities in New York, Houston, New Orleans and Detroit.
