Like the true southern belle and boss she is, Beyoncé delivered a special gift to her fans when she released her song “Black Parade” for Juneteenth, along with a directory of black-owned businesses. On her website, she left a message titled “The Black Parade Route.”
“Happy Juneteenth,” the statement read. “Being Black is your activism. Black excellence is a form of protest. Black joy is your right. ‘Black Parade’ is benefits BeyGOOD’s Black Business Impact Fund, administered by the National Urban League, to support Black-owned small businesses in need.”
The announcement is followed by a directory of black-owned businesses, created and curated by fashion stylist Zerina Akers in partnership with Instagram profile @Black.Owned.Everything.
The categories of businesses included on the list include book clubs, clothing, food, hair and beauty. Popular Third Ward soul food cuisine destination Houston This Is It Soul Food is also on the list, as well, according to KHOU.
Black-owned businesses can join the directory by registering their businesses at the website 𝔹𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕆𝕨𝕟𝕖𝕕𝔼𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕪𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘.𝕔𝕠. Listen to “Black Parade” below:
