Beats By Dre Ad Features Track Star Sha’Carri Richardson While Teasing Kanye West’s ‘No Child Left Behind’

Sha’Carri Richardson and Kanye West are the spotlights of the newest ad for Beats Studio Buds by Beats By Dre. In the one-minute commercial, the track star is shown practicing her craft, as she does high knees and prepares for take off from a set of starting blocks. Richardson’s inspiring display is complemented with a snippet of Kanye West’s single “No Child Left Behind” from his upcoming tenth studio album Donda.

He sings, “Back again, I used my back against the wall. Never called on y’all, never count on y’all. Always count on God. He’s done miracles on me.”

Then, the ad announces that there will be a Donda listening event available via livestream on Apple Music Thursday, July 22 at 8 PM ET. Donda is officially being released at midnight on Thursday, although many fans still can’t believe it’s true.

The pairing of the two stars is genius considering their track records (pun intended). Both Richardson and West have been through a mound of adversity on their plights to greatness, sharing the ultimate loss of their biological mothers and massive scrutiny from critics over their choices. The dynamic collision of personalities calls to mind thought-provoking verses from the late great Nipsey Hussle:

Longwinded, running through this life like it was mine
Never settling, but setting every goal high
One thousand burpees on the path to my own destruction or success
But what is a mistake without the lesson?
See, the best teacher in life is your own experience
None of us know who we are until we fail
They say every man is defined by his reaction to any given situation
Well who would you want to define you?
Someone else or yourself?
Whatever you do, homie, give your heart to it
And stay strong
