Dune: Part Two and Kung Fu Panda 4 are still noticeably relevant at the box office, collecting $17.6M and $16.8M, respectively, over the weekend. However, Sony’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire took over the No. 1 spot, debuting in 4,345 theaters where the film would collect an average $10,402 per location. In total, Ghostbusters earned $45.2M at domestic box office and another $16.4M internationally.
Ghostbusters didn’t quite reach the opening weekend standard set by the second installation of Dune, which originally released in 4,071 theaters and accumulated $82.5M over its opening weekend (March 1). However, Ghostbusters almost matched the $57.9M domestic opening performance of Kung Fu Panda 4, released March 8.
Paramount’s Bob Marley: One Love collected $1.1M in domestic grosses as the film screened at 1,266 locations, and is quietly on its way to the $100M mark stateside. Since its Feb. 14 premiere, the film has earned $173.4M worldwide, $95.3M in domestic and $78.1M in international.
Some other weekend numbers: Immaculate ($5.4M), Arthur the King ($4.4M), Late Night with the Devil ($2.8M), Imaginary ($2.8M), Love Lies Bleeding ($1.6M), and Cabrini ($1.4M), wrap up the top 10 films for the weekend of March 22-24.

In other news, moviegoers will be waiting an extra two years to see the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Universal Pictures pushed the film back from its April 3, 2024 release date to April 3, 2026. The studio also moved M3GAN 2.0 from its January 17, 2025 date to May 16, 2025.
Bad Boys 4, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, will be in theaters one week earlier, thanks to Sony Pictures. We can expect the buddy cop action flick to be onscreen June 7, 2024 instead of June 14.
