On the heels of the success of Bad Boys For Life, a fourth sequel has been confirmed. Writer Chris Bremner will return to pen the script, according to multiple sources.
Scribes Peter Craig and Joe Carnahan assisted in the screenplay for Bad Boys For Life, while characters were created by George Gallo, who has been a part of the franchise since its inception in 1995.
As of now, only Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have been confirmed for the fourth film, which is simply titled Bad Boys 4. However, fans are hoping that the charismatic Jacob Scipio (Armando) returns for another adventure.
Released on Friday, Jan. 17, the third film in the detective action-comedy franchise made $62,504,105 over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday delivered $10,529,839, with a four-day overall domestic cume of $73,033,944 Friday through Monday. The Sony Pictures Releasing movie was released in 3,775 theaters.
International grosses accounted for 32.9% of revenue, accumulating $38,964,401, pushing the Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directed film over the $100 million threshold worldwide.
The biggest international territories that grossed the most included Germany ($4.7M), Australia ($3.9M), and Mexico ($3.8M).
The film also rolled out to Romania, Norway, Hungary, Portugal, Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Iceland. The current worldwide box office gross for Bad Boys For Life is $118,424,24.
Bad Boys (1995) made a worldwide gross of $141,407,024, while Bad Boys II (2003) grossed $273,339,556 worldwide.
As far as ratings, Bad Boys For Life appears to have fans for life with an A CinemaScore, 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb and rankings of being the #1 Most Shared Movie of 2020 and #2 Most Discussed Movie of 2020 on Metacritic.com.
