Something must be in the water because all the secrets of the past are being exposed. The latest to break news occurred when rapper Fat Joe jumped on Instagram live with singer Ashanti and revealed that her Murder Inc family wanted her replaced by Jennifer Lopez on the song “What’s Luv”.
Fat Joe claimed that Irv Gotti and Ja Rule pitched the hit to him as a collaboration with J.Lo. But, when Fat Joe heard Ashanti’s voice on the record that she wrote and sung, he demanded that she stay on the record. Ashanti had no idea that this was going on behind the scenes.
There was speculation in the past that some of Ashanti’s vocals were used for J.Lo’s “I’m Real”. “They kept my hook and, you know, they kept some of the backgrounds and ad libs and stuff like that…And it was funny, it was bittersweet because I was really excited ’cause it was J.Lo. But I was so mad at Irv. I was like, ‘You know I wanted that record!’ … I was so mad, but I was happy at the same time because it was J.Lo.”
