You’ve seen him with the greats, such as Snoop Dogg, Nick Cannon and Mike Tyson. He’s often recognized around Los Angeles by his artistic, fly van that advertises his latest projects and endeavors.
Most likely, you’ve seen him at the clubs pop locking and break dancing like no other in one of his signature custom-made, two-piece suits.
He’s responsible for breaking a lot of artists into the music industry and the live performance circuit.
Ric-Hard, some call him Hollywood Ric-Hard, is the ultimate hustler and businessman with an inspiring story of perseverance. Not only does he has several music projects in the mix, but he’s also transitioning into being a full-blown actor and director. His latest movie 7th & Westlake: Nino’s Revenge is expected to be distributed later in 2020.
The rapper has been in the game for over 20 years and he still doesn’t have an off button.
The MouthSoap team was invited to celebrate his birthday this past week and we had the chance to ask him a few questions before he was whipped away by his entourage.
The night was filled with live performances at the 5 Star Bar in Downtown Los Angeles.
While there were some male rappers in the building, the main attraction was a lineup of female rappers all with their own voice and story to tell.
Ric-Hard partnered with the booking and promotion company Do It For Music and Unda Grind MVT to provide a platform for female artists, a rarity in a male-dominated industry.
At the Do It For Music SXSW Edition event, traveling performers included El Mas Chingon, Mad Illusion, Jizzle Jaaye and many more. Local artists that were on the roster included Naked Barbie, Platinum Brown Suga and Wizdom.
Wakeem Up Nish and Mizz Symphony were among the group of women scheduled to perform that night.
Mizz Symphony, a protégé of Ric-Hard, warranted a standing ovation after her performance. Patrons of the venue could be overheard saying “Now, she’s an entertainer.”
So, when the MouthSoap caught up with her, we were amazed to find out that she was new to the music scene. Check out the interview below:
