There’s a new superhero movie on the horizon unlike any other we’ve ever seen before. Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy are real-life superheroes in Netflix’s Thunder Force.
In a world where supervillains are commonplace, two estranged childhood best friends reunite after one devises a treatment that gives them powers to protect their city. Emily (Spencer) develops a genetic vaccine that gives ordinary people superpowers. After Lydia (McCathy) accidentally takes the formula, she teams up with Emily to fight crime.
Ben Falcone, who directed McCarthy’s 2020 film Superintelligence and had a role in her 2013 feature Identity Theft — and is also McCarthy’s husband — is director and writer of Thunder Force.
The pic stars Jason Bateman (Ozark), Bobby Cannavale (Tom and Jerry), Sarah Baker (Superintelligence), and Tyrel Jackson Williams (Brockmire). Becki Cross Trujillo is aboard as executive producer. Marc Platt of Marc Platt Productions, Falcone and McCarthy join as producers of the pic.
Thunder Force will be available April 4 on Netflix.
