A Grown Up Coi Leray Debuts Music Video For ‘Wasted’

Coi Leray is clearly transitioning from her tomboy, hip hop image as she continues to dabble with rhythm & blues and it’s all too familiar concepts of love and heartbreak.

The Uptown Records signee is full-blown R&B diva in “Wasted,” a song that’s sure to be in the playlist at the beauty salons and on repeat on social media.  Coi Leray abandons her signature petite rap vocals for a fuller sound as she croons about her disappointment with an unfulfilled relationship.  It helps that she plays opposite Justus Pickett, a symmetrically perfect specimen of a man who is the target of her dismal.

Valley Visions and Unique Visions co-direct the video, while Sean Cooper is cinematographer.

Her latest single channels her transition into grown woman well with the Trendsetter artist furthering her flirtation with seductive fits and hairstyles, along with soulful vocals about meaningful subject matter — something that she began to display with the release of her freestyle of Ray J’s “One Wish” in August 2022.

Since then, she has dropped the official video for the braggadocious “Fly Sh!t” and the the audio for the single “Players,” a female anthem that samples “The Message” by legendary hip hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.  While it is not clear whether the rising starlet will be dropping a full-length album at the top of 2023, it appears that Coi Leray is headed that way as her label teases the new image on TikTok and YouTube.

“Wasted” is available now for your listening pleasure on Apple Music, and most major music streaming platforms.
