A Few Reasons (And Stats) Why Beyoncé Is The People’s Champ

Hey, Mrs. Carter!  Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has been a force to reckon with since Destiny’s Child set a new standard in the 1990s.  A few decades and some change later, the phenomenal Houston-raised talent has established one of the most decorated careers in the music industry.  Let’s get to the stats!

Nods From The Industry

Beyoncé recently celebrated her 42nd birthday on Sept. 4, 2023, a commemoration that reminded us fans of how much Queen Bey has really done.  She’s been nominated for 88 Grammys, winning 32 so far for Renaissance as Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, Homecoming as Best Music Film, Lemonade as Best Urban Contemporary Album (although Lemonade should’ve won Album of the Year), and I Am…Sasha Fierce, B’Day, and Dangerously In Love as Best Contemporary R&B Albums, just to name a few.

In addition to the Grammys, Beyoncé has received nods from the Academy Awards, Emmys, Golden Globes, and NAACP Image Awards.  The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored her with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006, but it was for the contributions of Destiny’s Child.  Beyoncé has yet to receive a star on Hollywood Blvd. for her contributions as a solo artist.  Crazy, right?

A student of greats such as Tina Turner and Michael Jackson, Beyoncé has been recorded in the Guinness World Records 22 times, finally receiving an induction into the publication’s Hall of Fame in 2023.  Some of the titles she’s held include having the fastest-selling album on iTunes in 2013 and most Grammy Awards won by a female artist in 2021, along with being the first act to debut at No. 1 with her first six studio albums in the U.S. in 2016.

Beyoncé’s World Tours

The “Break My Soul” singer has headlined six solo tours, including the Dangerously in Love Tour (2003), The Beyonce Experience (2007), I Am… Tour (2009), The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour (2013), and The Formation World Tour (2016).

Beyoncé’s current Renaissance World Tour is one of her most anticipated, especially since the world events of 2020 through 2022 prohibited many artists from performing live in huge arenas.  So far, the 56-show tour which has a setlist consisting of “Cuff It,” “Savage,” “Before I Let Go,” “Love On Top,” and “Drunk In Love,” has amassed more than $460 million in ticket sales.

Let’s not forget her memorable co-headlining tour series with hubby Jay-Z, On the Run (2014) and On the Run II (2018) — the tours combined made over $360 million.  How many superstar singers do you know can headline a tour with their spouse and make that kind of impact?

Beyoncé Proves You Can Have The Family And Career

Speaking of spouses, in the midst of a booming career Beyoncé managed to get married to another music icon, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, 53, on April 4, 2008, and subsequently created a family with two girls and one boy — Blue Ivy is already making a name for herself as a Grammy winner and dancer on her mother’s tour.

Beyoncé has been quite the business woman, experimenting with everything from films to fashion.  To this day, the MouthSoap team has House of Deréon in their closets, a sure collectible item in the future.

Currently, Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment is making waves as a production hub and record label, while the business savvy domain owner has established a remarkable stake in digital real estate with her website Beyoncé.com, a platform in which she’s taken complete control of her narrative using a straight from the source strategy.  By the way, a mysterious venture into fragrance is also on the horizon, according to an announcement on the website.

Beyoncé’s Beautiful Spirit

Even with all those accolades, Beyoncé, as human as she is, has carried herself with humility, confidence, and respect, all while maintaining relevancy. She’s tried her best to navigate controversy, staying out of the mess and choosing to address buzzing topics in her art.  As a result, her critics literally have to conjure up stories by comparing her to her peers who she most likely has no real issue with in real life, and constantly using her family as fodder.

Yet, her actions demonstrate she understands it comes with the territory of being a highly successful, powerhouse talent who has consistently proven her worth by being one of the hardest working women in entertainment.  Is there more ground to cover? Sure. There’s the autobiography, biopic, Destiny’s Child reunion tour, and groundbreaking in retail and consumer brand markets. She still has more legacy to create, and we’re all here for it.

Happy 42nd B’Day, Beyoncé!
