Bad Bunny performed on top of a moving transit bus as it maneuvered through the New York streets. The performance was a part of the new Uforia Music Series, produced by Uforia and Verizon. The concert, which took place on Sunday (Sept. 20), was streamed live on Bad Bunny’s YouTube channel, and across Uforia’s platforms, including Twitch, Twitter and UforiaMusic.com.
“We are extremely excited to celebrate the richness of Latinx culture during Hispanic Heritage Month with this one-of-a-kind live streaming experience, and also commemorate the Puerto Rico community’s resilience on the third anniversary of Hurricane Maria, in partnership with Verizon,” Univision president of radio Jesus Lara said. “We are proud to showcase the artistry of Bad Bunny who has had such a profound impact on our culture and the music industry at large.”
A separate celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month continued in Springfield, Massachusetts where the community had a virtual celebration for their annual Puerto Rican Day Parade.
“It’s our 30th anniversary this year and I was a kid in the North End who marched in the very first parade,” Jade-Rivera McFarlin, member of the Springfield Puerto Rican Parade committee, said. “I couldn’t’ see a year without having it myself and all the other committee members.”
Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off on Tuesday, September 15. Throughout the next four weeks, people will be celebrating the contributions and cultures of the LatinX and Hispanic communities. Celebrations will take place through small gatherings, and local and virtual events due to the limitations of the pandemic.
