Charlamagne Tha God of The Breakfast Club fame is partnering with iHeartRadio to bring listeners The Black Effect Podcast Network, he announced on his radio show on Wednesday.

The network will kick off with 18 podcasts aiming to “encourage discourse on important topics in the Black community and beyond” and “to amplify, elevate, and empower emerging and established talent.”

In a move that is set to make history, Charlamagne Tha God is doing his part to ensure that black talent have a shot at developing partnerships rather than becoming contracted employees.

“Just know in this business, you don’t get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate,” Charlamagne said during his morning show announcement. “Thank you, iHeartRadio for being my partners. Let’s continue to move culture forward.”

Some of the podcasts that will be featured on the network include Drink Champs with N.O.R.E and DJ EFN, All the Smoke with Matt Barnes, Carefully Reckless with Jess Hilarious, Laugh and Learn with Flame Monroe (executive producer, Tiffany Haddish), and Gangster Chronicles with MC EIHT, Reggie Wright Jr., and James McDonald. The Breakfast Club podcast will also be featured on the network.

“Blackness has an immediate, culture-shifting effect on everything,” Charlamagne said. “Blackness controls the cool. Blackness is the culture, but Black Voices are not monolithic. The only way to appreciate the diversity of thought and experiences in Black culture is to build a platform for those voices to be heard.”

The shows will be distributed through the iHeartPodcast Network and will be available across podcast apps and platforms.

“As our country’s No. 1 audio company and podcaster, we have both the responsibility and the opportunity to give new voices a massive audience platform for creativity and innovation — and for important ideas that need to be heard,” Bob Pittman, chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia, said.

The Black Effect Podcast network will debut in Fall 2020.
