As Ciara celebrates the birth of her baby son Win with husband Russell Wilson, the “Level Up” singer has dropped “Rooted,” a black empowerment song recalling the recent uprising against racial inequality and injustice.
In the video, it appears there are three themes focusing on the black American, African and the mystical, Marvel world of Wakanda. The layers of the film are further elevated as Ciara can be seen twerking with a full and bare belly in front of different landscapes.
“Rooted” features Ester Dean and appears to be filmed in several locations in and around Los Angeles. In behind the scenes footage, Ciara revealed that she completed the song while in labor in order to meet deadlines. Seems like a lot of pressure for an expecting woman, but if anyone can do it, Ciara can and she did.
