DJ Akademiks held a special premiere on his YouTube channel to address the latest attempt by Meek Mill to cancel the Complex host.
The online dispute all started when DJ Akademiks posted a video rating Meek’s latest EP as a flop. Meek Mill would then go on a lightweight campaign to cancel DJ Akademiks.
“You can’t cancel anyone,” DJ Akademiks said in the video. “You hate 6ix9ine. He ratted, cool! But, let’s be clear you work or actually your label Dreamchasers Records is on Roc Nation and Roc Nation’s CEO is a rat.”
DJ Akademiks proceeded to expose Meek Mill for not being consistent when it comes to his public persona and what he represents.
“You’re just a hypocrite,” he said. “Last week you was like, yo they’re trying to cancel B. Simone. ‘Yo, stop everybody! Please, stop, stop! We can’t be canceling black people. We gotta stop!’ Next week, ‘Yo, let’s cancel Ak.’ Hypocrite.”
He continued, “You’re fighting for prison reform. Guess who’s the guy next to you who you keep being so proud about? Robert Kraft. He’s an admitted Trump supporter who voted for Trump on his last term. You’re fighting for prison reform with somebody who voted for Trump, huh?”
“I’m just saying bro, you’re a walking contradiction. You can’t decide if you want to be a street n**** one minute or if you want to fight for prison reform the next, ok. Your music glorifies all type of gangster activity that helps actually put black men in jail, but to keep it real you’re like ‘Nah man, let’s focus on things to get them out.’ You had mad energy for me, but you didn’t have energy for Nicki Minaj’s man, Mr. Petty in the store.”
Clearly, DJ Akademiks did not come to play. He decided to give one my jab to the rapper before signing off.
“You haven’t had a top 50 song since Drake gifted — he gave you “Going Bad”, your other four songs you dropped since hasn’t even been in the top 50.”
