The highly anticipated film One Night In Miami is being directed by Hollywood A-lister Regina King and she was so gracious enough to give fans a sneak peak of one of the scenes in the movie.
In an exclusive photo King posted on Twitter, the scene takes place at a restaurant with four greats in tow, including Malcolm X played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, Jim Brown played by Aldis Hodge, Cassius Clay played by Eli Goree and Sam Cooke played by Leslie Odom Jr.
The director captions the photo, “Black history IS American history! I am so excited that today, on Juneteenth, we get to share this first image from our film #OneNightInMiami. Can’t wait for you all to see the brilliance these brothers bring to their portrayals of Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, Cassius Clay and Jim Brown.”
One Night In Miami follows the night that Cassius Clay won the heavyweight boxing championship against opponent Sonny Liston at the Miami Beach Convention Center on February 25, 1964.
After the fight, the boxing champ met up with the civil rights activist, singer and football player to celebrate. Due to segregation laws, the legendary group had to stay at the Hampton House Motel in a black neighborhood.
What took place at that motel birthed new ideas about the civil rights movement that would impact the future of the U.S. forever.
