Michaela Coel of Chewing Gum fame has another riveting show under her belt with the new HBO series I May Destroy You.
Coel executive produced, wrote and stars in the series that explores the challenges of dating and relationships for one Londoner, who through a set of mysterious clues such as a scrape on her head and a broken cellphone, suspects her drink was spiked with a date-rape drug.
The upbeat, but serious, half-hour show billing includes Lewis Reeves, Harriet Webb, Ann Akin and Marouane Zotti.
Sam Miller directs and joins Coel as executive producer, alongside Various Artists, Ltd’s Phil Clarke and Roberto Troni, Jo McClellan, Roberto Troni and Piers Wenger. The series will premiere on HBO Max on Sunday, June 7.
