Wendy Williams Taking Break From Show Due To Health Complications

Wendy Williams is taking a break from her talk show.

The pop culture queen is reportedly placing The Wendy Williams Show on hiatus due to health reasons. She’s been battling symptoms of fatigue resulting from Graves disease, according to a report by Variety.

“Recently, Wendy has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease which is causing fatigue,” said a statement from The Wendy Williams Show.  “In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment.”

This will be the third hiatus for Williams, who often advocated against taking breaks from work. In 2018 and 2019, she had to temporarily leave the show due to issues with her thyroid and surgery on a fractured shoulder.

Many speculated, including former radio co-host Charlamagne tha God, that Williams was on drugs as she began to display erratic behavior while on set. Later, Williams would reveal that she was actually living in a sober house.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Williams has been filming the social distance conscious Wendy@Home show from her New York city condo.

The remote episodes have not done as well as the live TV episodes. Viewership dropped significantly from an average of 207,100 views per video from live TV episodes (2.071 million views across 10 YouTube videos) to 64,510 views per video from remote episodes (645,100 views across 10 YouTube videos).

The decline in viewership could be the result of less flexibility with the show segments and rigid producing. However, many fans in the comment sections complained about Williams lackluster performance and the Foley sound effects that include irritating fake laughs.

Viewers will be able to catch reruns of the show while Williams is on break. The Wendy Williams Show is renewed on Fox through 2022.

Get better Wendy!
