Houston native Megan Thee Stallion was already popping when her single “Savage” went viral. But, she topped herself when the multi-talented and legendary Beyoncé hopped on the remix of the song.
As popularity of the song has increased, 1501 Certified Entertainment founder and former MLB All-Star Carl Crawford said in a statement that proceeds for the song would go to a non-profit.
“During this coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we are proud to donate all proceeds from the ‘Savage’ remix to Houston-based nonprofit organization Bread of Life,” he said in a statement.
The Bread of Life serves those in poverty and low to moderate income communities.
“Savage”, which is a single from Megan Thee Stallion’s EP Suga, is currently #14 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song became a major success when fans on social media, such as Tik Tok and Instagram, started doing dances and skits to it.
Having Beyoncé on the record just made the single even more undeniable. The Lemonade singer delighted fans when she flexed on the lyrics, saying “I’m a Boss, I’m a leader, I pull up in my two-seater and my momma was a savage, think I got this from Tina.” #Sheesh.
Crawford, who was recently in the news for a label dispute with Megan a few months back, believes that the proceeds of the hit song will be better suited for COVID-19 relief efforts.
“We’re proud of the success of “Savage” but having the two Houston powerhouses, Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce, on the remix with proceeds benefiting those in underserved areas during this crisis our country is facing will be impactful to COVID 19 relief efforts,” said Crawford.
He continues, “In addition to catapulting emerging artists to global status our other goal is to serve our community and the “Savage” remix is one of many initiatives such as the annual 1501 Family Day which provides food, toys and more giveaways the community will see 1501 Certified Entertainment participate in.”
Well, OK then.
