The Legendary Teddy Riley Vs. Babyface IG Live Battle Plagued With Audio Issues! Internet Reactions Go Crazy

We’ve been waiting for this battle to go down between super producers Teddy Riley and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds. Originally supposed to take place last week, the IG battle was rescheduled for Saturday, April 18 at 9 p.m. ET due to Babyface recovering from coronavirus.

From the start of the battle, it appeared that Riley had did way too much. Babyface kept it very simple as he sat in a studio without all the bells and whistles.

Meanwhile, Riley had an extravagant set up that included a mic stand and a hype man prepped for a professional studio performance. The only problem was that no one could hear Riley clearly due to major feedback and audio issues.

For about an hour, nearly 400 thousand viewers had to suffer through the most awkward performances from Riley, 53, who had a full-on DJ and visual screen behind him. Viewers could perfectly hear the music from Babyface, 62, as he sat very patiently through the experience.

Finally, around the 10 p.m. mark, the producers decided to take a recess to fix the issues and return to IG Live at 10:30 p.m. However, it appeared the battle would officially end for the night.

Holding back from what looked like a very hearty laugh, Babyface posted about the incident with full grace on display.

“Tonight was really special and so many people joined in on us that I think that it’s only right that we postpone this thing and do it at a time when there aren’t any technical difficulties and everybody can hear the music the way it needs to be heard,” said Babyface on Instagram. “So, I gracefully would like to say why don’t we just do this at another time. Pick it up and have a good time later on.”

Riley also had something to say.

“Due to technical difficulties, we want to do this thing again,” he said on an IG video. “My brother and I agree — It’s just like a boxing match. Something goes wrong, we gotta do it again. That’s what’s happening. We’re going to do it again. The good news is we’re over a million plus… Please forgive us, we will be back. Peace and love. I’m Teddy Riley.”

An official date and time for another IG battle has not been announced. If they really do come back, will you be tuning in again?

While the jokes are rampant on the Internet, one thing’s for sure is that these producers/singers have impacted the music industry significantly with back-to-back hits.

It appears that Riley, in his competitive nature, was only trying to give us the best experience possible. But, sometimes keeping it simple is enough.

See what the Internet was saying about the whole debacle.
