Entrepreneur and award winning hip-hop artist Lecrae did a good deed for the homeless population of Atlanta by setting up hand washing stations for them on Thursday.
The “Blessings” rapper partnered with non-profit Love Beyond Walls, known for their moniker “A Movement of Doers”, to bring 15 hand washing stations to areas in Atlanta with a high population of homeless people.
Lecrae and volunteers assembled and distributed the stations loaded with hand sanitizer and water. The stations were delivered via truck.
“I wanted to continue doing the same stuff that I have been doing just in any city I’ve lived in and that’s just being close to the disenfranchised and the marginalized communities,” Lecrae told the Associated Press. “I learned about what Terence was doing here. He actually came by the studio and told us the story and I was just really intrigued.”
Founded in 2013 by Terence Lester, Love Beyond Walls seeks to “raise awareness of societal needs through technology and storytelling, and mobilize people to take part in it.”
Lester felt the need to help people on the streets during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Whether people like it or not, man we’re out here doing our part to ensure that people have access to this basic necessity during this pandemic,” said Lester.
Born in Houston, Texas, Lecrae Moore is not only a rapper, but also writes, produce and invest in businesses. The Christian rapper was the first hip hop artist to win a Grammy and BET Award for Best Gospel Album for his album Gravity.
Lecrae has a total of 10 albums in his discography, including his 2020 release Restoration. He plans to release his book I Am Restored: How I Lost My Religion but Found My Faith on October 13, 2020.
