Antonio Brown Signs With Patriots After Raiders Release

Brown signed one-year deal with the New England Patriots with $10 million guaranteed

Pro Bowl wide receiver Antonio Brown has signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus. The deal will include a signing bonus of $9 million, with $5 million in incentives and $10 million guaranteed.

The announcement comes just after a tumultuous release from the Oakland Raiders on Saturday, a deal in which Brown was guaranteed $30 million. Brown’s experience with the Raiders was plagued with issues that included him being fined for missing practice, which led to a verbal dispute with GM Mike Mayock. Brown was also plagued with foot injuries and helmet issues while with the Raiders.

This truly feels like a chest move and many are speculating that it was planned all along. With the gain of Brown, head coach Bill Belichick has built a very dangerous line of players that include Tom Brady, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman, Demaryius Thomas, Phillip Dorsett and Jakobi Meyers.

Ironically, the Patriots will play against Brown’s former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. However, Brown will not be on the field for the game.

Brown is a lead wide receiver in the NFL with 837 receptions, 11,207 receiving yards, 546 first downs and 74 touchdowns.
