Prairie View A&M University Alumna Loni Love To Set Up Foundation With HBCU

The Real talk show host Loni Love announced that she will be setting up a foundation in collaboration with her alma mater Prairie View A&M University.

The Detroit native made the unofficial announcement live on her talk show during a conversation about people asking for money once a person they know has reached a level of success.

Although Love doesn’t believe in enabling “leeches”, she does have a soft spot for helping people through education and community service.

“I also want to help people because I know where I come from and I don’t have children, so I don’t have that legacy,” she said on the show. “I came up through college, through Prairie View, so what I’m doing is I want to give back that way. So, I’m setting up a foundation at Prairie View to help people that are like me, that didn’t have money for college.”

Love attended Prairie View A&M University on scholarship. She pursued a degree in electrical engineering at the Texas school after spending time at General Motors in Detroit.

Before Love would find her footing in the comedy world, she would take an engineering job in California.

The aspiring comedian would put in hours testing her comedy at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood. Soon, she would be discovered on the talent search show Star Search. It was history after that!

She would go on to be featured in movies and obtain several gigs in the entertainment industry.

Love returned to the HBCU in 2018 for the infamous Homecoming weekend to support the Panthers.
