Lena Waithe And Alana Mayo End Relationship After Two Month Marriage

The Chi creator Lena Waithe and creative executive Alana Mayo have announced that they are going their separate ways after being married for two months.

“After careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways,” said a joint statement from their reps. “We have nothing but support for one another and ask that you respect our privacy during this time.”

The couple got engaged in 2017. A report from gossip columnist Love B. Scott alleged that the separation was the result of Waithe cheating.

Gossip website Bossip claimed that Waithe had cheated with Harriet actress Cynthia Erivo. However, none of these allegations and claims have been confirmed by the sources.

Mayo worked as create executive at Paramount Pictures, responsible for films such as Selma, before moving on to Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society production company as head of production and development.

Waithe started as a producer on Netflix show Dear White People, alongside friend and creator Justin Simien.

She then would make headway as writer on Master of None, becoming the first black woman to win an Emmy for writing a comedy series.
