There’s “White Boys for Jesus” and R&B swooners for righteousness in the new musical comedy Praise This, from the piping hot director and writer Tina Gordon. The official trailer reveals that the feature film will premiere on Peacock on April 7.
Falling in the same arena of The Fighting Temptations, Pitch Perfect, Drumline, and Stomp the Yard, Praise This takes us on the journey with a sleepy church youth choir that is suddenly revived through the influence of a “city girl.”
Chloe Bailey (Grown-ish) plays Sam, a talented singer and songwriter from Los Angeles who is forced to spend a summer in Atlanta with relatives at the behest of her father. Coerced into joining the gospel choir and praise team to stay out of trouble, Sam realizes the opportunity to make it big in the music industry by participating in the national championship competition.
The star-studded cast includes comedian Drew “Druski” Desbordes (House Party 2023), actor/rapper Tristan Mack Wilds (Tales), along with Anjelika Washington (Stargirl), Cocoa Brown (9-1-1), and Michael Anthony (Saints & Sinners). Praise This will be Quavo’s feature film acting debut. Prior to this role, the Migos hip hop star appeared in a few television series, including Narcos: Mexico, Atlanta, and Grown-ish.

The Universal Pictures feature comes from the think tanks of producers Will Packer and Tim Story. A team of writers known as Murder Ink, consisting of Brandon Broussard, Hudson Obayuwana, and Jana Savage, wrote the screenplay with revisions from Gordon and Fresh Off The Boat’s Camilla Blackett.
Praise This will be exclusively available on NBCU’s streaming platform, Peacock, on April 7, 2023.
