The Governor of Florida is exerting his power in defiance of the Biden Administration’s latest border control policies. Gov. Ron DeSantis made a drastic move when he executed flights carrying migrant people from Florida to a random location at Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.
Nearly 50 migrants were shuffled unannounced to the odd destination with the perception that they would be securing work opportunities and housing. However, DeSantis saw it as an opportunity to give Blue States a reality check regarding their open-door immigration policies.
“The President of the United States has refused to lift a finger to secure that border and you’ve had millions and millions of people pouring across illegally, a record amount of fentanyl coming into our country, it is absolutely killing Americans in record numbers,” DeSantis reasoned at a press conference.
“We are not a sanctuary state and it’s better to be able to go to a sanctuary jurisdiction — and yes, we will help facilitate that transport for you to be able to go to greener pastures,” DeSantis said to an applauding audience.
Martha’s Vineyard, a community of 15,000 people, is said to not have enough social services to support the influx of people. The surprise drop-off has left volunteers scrambling for food and shelter space at churches.
Gov. DeSantis’ resolve comes after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott did a similar move when he ordered the busing of over 8,000 migrants to Washington, D.C. in the last six months. Two of those buses landed in front of the home of Vice President Kamala Harris.
New York, another destination for migrants, has received an influx of over 2,000 people. Mayor Eric Adams of New York simply revealed that the state needs help in assisting the new population.
Gov. DeSantis continues, “They’re supporting policies that are just frankly indefensible. It is not defensible for a super power to not have any control over the territory of its country, over the borders of this country.”
In addition to people migrating to Texas and Florida, several political pundits are reporting that California may be next in the states that are overwhelmed with migrant travelers unannounced.
