Will Smith is on a roll! Fresh off a SAG Award win, Mr. Box Office thrilled fans with confirmation that the long-awaited sequel to the 2007 post-apocalyptic film I Am Legend is actively in the works. This time around, however, Michael B. Jordan is attached to star in a role — although that role has not been fully revealed, according to the Trades. Smith made a very understated post with no explanation on Instagram. A photo shows the desolate New York streets depicted in the film with no caption. Fans were able to put two and two together.
Based on the novel authored by Richard Matheson, Smith plays scientist Robert Neville, who appears to be the last survivor of a worldwide plague, known as The Krippin Virus, that infects a majority of the population turning them into human-hungry zombies. The film was quite successful, drawing in a worldwide box office of $585.4 million.
The film starred Alice Braga, Charlie Tahan, Salli Richardson, and Willow Smith. Constantine and The Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence directed the 2007 version written by Mark Protosevich and Akiva Goldsman. While Goldsman is set to pen the sequel, a director has yet to be selected.

Announcement of Jordan’s involvement with the sequel comes on the cusp of several projects in the works for both the Black Panther star and Smith.
Not only is Smith currently producing the Peacock series Bel-Air, but he’s also working on a handful of sequels, including Bad Boys 4, Bright 2, The Karate Kid 2, and Hancock 2. On the other hand, Jordan is in production for Creed III and developing the pic Wrong Answer, the story of Atlanta math teacher Damany Lewis who falsifies test scores to obtain funding for his school.
