Kandi Burruss Speaks On Feeling Depressed When Business Slows

Even those who inspire us have their moments, which without warning can include bouts of perplexity and mental exhaustion. As time has proven, Kandi Burruss is as authentic and transparent as it gets. The burgeoning entrepreneur and reality television star released a nearly 10-minute clip on her YouTube channel to update her fans on her glamorous life. Come to find out, her life is not as glamorous as one would imagine.

It’s no secret that Burruss loves business. The multi-millionaire’s many endeavors have included a three-decade long music career, traveling stage plays, clothing boutique Tags, makeup line Kandi Koated, and a few restaurant chains. With so many things going on, it appears that the married mother of three hardly has any time for herself. At the top of the year, however, Burruss had a little room to breathe, but the unusually slow-paced season didn’t sit quite well with the multi-tasker.

“This year I started feeling lost,” Burruss admitted in the clip. “I didn’t know what I wanted to do next. When I said that to my agent he was like, ‘You sound crazy,’ because I already had a couple of things that we’re doing.”

Her makeup artist suggested that she may be dealing with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or seasonal depression, which consists of the time of year and weather having an impact on mental health. Burruss also mentioned a strict diet that excludes sugar has also affected her.

For the most part, she considers business a big part of her life. Burruss is accustom to the noise that comes with being an entrepreneur. The quiet times, however, impact her mood and mentality.

“I do get a little depressed when I don’t have s— going on in business, which is probably why I overwork myself,” Burruss continued.

Her revelation of experiencing depression is eye-opening considering her upcoming schedule. Not only will fans get a glimpse of The Chi actress on season 14 of the Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Atlanta later this year, but viewers are in for a surprise with her entrepreneurial spinoff called Kandi & the Gang, premiering March 6th on Bravo. Plus, just recently, Burruss had the opportunity to ring the Nasdaq Stock Market Closing Bell in New York with her family by her side.

“I’m excited about the things to come, it’s so crazy because at the top of the year I was like, ‘Woe is me, what is happening with my life? What am I going to do?’ People don’t think that I go through that moment because people feel like I already got everything figured out and that is not true. I go through those moments just like everybody else. Staying busy and always having it figured out are not the same,” Burruss added.

To keep a balance, Burruss has made an effort to appreciate vacation time. In the clip, she said that she went on a two-day vacation and although it was short, it was enough to rejuvenate her. She plans on continuing those little breaks going forward.
