Lil Yachty, Young Thug, Gunna, Coi Leray, And Others To Be Featured On HBO Nature-Based Reality Show ‘Chillin Island’

HBO has teamed up with Uncut Gems director Josh Safdie to bring audiences the nature-based reality series Chillin Island.

In six episodes, the series will follow music artists, such as Lil Yachty, Young Thug, Gunna, Coi Leray, Ezra Koening, Ski Mask the Slump God, Killer Mike, and Lil Tecca, as they embrace nature and attempt to survive the elements. The subjects will commune with nature in unique ways and each other in this quirky, offbeat HBO series.

In one particular clip, Young Thug hops off of a helicopter in the middle of a dry desert wearing a long sleeve, two-piece leather fit, nicely matched with a sun hat that is hilariously snatched by a flying bird. In an equally funny clip, Gunna is shown fly-fishing and cooking on a grill in front of his one-person tent in the middle of a forest.

“There’s been an explosion of really inventive TV produced over the past few years, but nothing can prepare you for Chillin Island,” said Nina Rosenstein, the EVP of HBO Programming. “It’s a brilliant mix of offbeat observations and weirdly funny revelations built around three unconventional hosts, some well-known rappers, and exotic locations. It’s quirky, irreverent, and at times, profound.”

Ashok Kondabolu and Aleksey Weintraub will host the series executive produced by Safdie and Sebastian Bear-McClard.

The HBO original series Chillin Island streams on the platform Dec. 17.
