Yeon Sang-Ho’s Intense Horror Series ‘Hellbound’ Receives November Release Date

It’s many people’s worst nightmare, to be stalked by death with hell as the final destination in the afterlife. Director Yeon Sang-ho plays on this fear with his new six-episode horror series Hellbound.

Based on the webtoon Hell, the premise of the series evolves around citizens of the world paying for their sins when executors of hell travel to earth to collect hellbound individuals. The only saving grace seems to be a truth-telling religious group that has predicted the fateful circumstances.

The language of the series is in Korean, but will have options for subtitles. The cast includes Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Jeong Min Park, and Jin-ah Won.

Sang-ho made waves when he premiered his apocalyptic zombie pic Train to Busan at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The film became a box office success upon its release in international markets. Sang-ho followed up the hit with sequel Train to Busan: Peninsula, released in 2020. New Line has ordered a feature remake of Train to Busan to be directed by Timo Tjahjanto of V/H/S/94 fame.

Hellbound will be released on Netflix a week before Thanksgiving on Nov. 19.
