DJ Akademiks, music commentator and host of Complex’s Everyday Struggle, is back in the music game as his rap persona Lil AK. He announced via social media that he would be dropping a new music project Hypebeast on Oct. 18.
AK’s YouTube channel currently shows a diss record he made targeting Nicki Minaj called ‘Take Care Babe (Nicki MInaj Response Song)’. He also posted in the description a message to the Queen rapper saying, “Nicki Minaj has 48 hours to respond to LIL AK or she lost this rap battle. Second Rap beef she lost…First Remy Ma..now Lil AK.”
The song has snippets of Nicki Minaj on her show on Queen Radio. He also posted a crazy looking photo of the rap star with messages threatening to break his jaw the next time she runs into him. Regarding the reception of the song, fans left a slew of trolling comments:
“This song has already been certified quadruple Plastic,” said Duane XO on YouTube.
Fanemy (a fan that’s an enemy) Daniel Rafaelo said, “‘Take Care Babe’ has been certified 2X wood in the USA and is 50k copies away from being certified aluminum in the UK.”

DJ Akademiks also announced that he will be the executive producer and host of a docuseries centered around rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine. The original production Tekashi69 VS The World is a collaboration between Complex Networks and Snapchat.
The docuseries will trace “the rise and fall of controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, from his earliest days growing up in Brooklyn, through his chart-topping career and star-studded collaborations, to his trouble with the FBI and eventual incarceration.” The docuseries launches this Fall and will be exclusively available to Snapchat viewers.
This is not the first time Snapchat has delved into the original content arena. Earlier in the year, Snapchat released docuseries Bringing Up Bhabie based on the life and times of Danielle Bregoli known as rapper Bhad Bhabie or the “catch me outside girl” from Dr. Phil. The show was a hit, premiering to 10 million viewers within 24 hours.
