For the very first time, the White House will have a female vice president who is of African and Asian descent. The victory comes four years after Hillary Clinton attempted to become the first female president of the United States.
Harris was in the bid for the 2020 presidential elections but had to drop out in December due to dwindling funds. The 77-year-old Biden announced Harris as his running mate back in August.
“This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me,” Harris posted on Twitter. “It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us.”
Born to a father from Jamaica and mother from India, Harris has broken many records in her career as the Senate’s only female of African and Asian descent and San Francisco’s first female district attorney. She was also the first woman of color to be attorney general.
Now that the former U.S. Senator is VP, the Democrats are strategizing for her to become the next president in 2024.
