Former YouTuber turned famous R&B singer Queen Naija will be celebrating the release of her debut studio album missunderstood releasing on Friday, Oct. 30.
It’s a long time coming for the mother who has built her career brick by brick on social media. The new album will confront all of the negativity that she’s experienced for the last couple of years using diary entries for each song listed on the album.
“For the past 2 years this is only a PORTION of the negative energy I’ve received about myself,” Queen Naija writes on an Instagram post promoting the album. “Comments of people trying to tear me down, twist my words, downplay my gift, my talent, my voice.”
The adversity is non-stop for the “Medicine” singer. In a series of online events, fans (or haters) accused the singer of being a “homewrecker” and breaking up a relationship that her current beau Clarence was in before she came into the picture. Queen Naija released a video on YouTube explaining her side of the story.
“It’s not in me to — I wasn’t even thinking about his ex,” she said of the overlapping relationship. “I wasn’t even thinking about — I didn’t know her. All I could think about was the relationship me and him was building.”
The Detroit native’s video is in response to Clarence’s ex, YouTuber Leslie. In a very passionate video, Leslie breaks down in tears about her breakup with Clarence, which oddly, occurred about five years ago. In the video, she claims that the new budding relationship between Clarence and Queen Naija occurred very quickly after she agreed to give him space.
Queen Naija is not free from her ex either. Over the years, YouTuber Chris Sails had plenty to say about his past relationship with the singer. He’s expressed his disdain for her and her success in a variety of songs and YouTube videos.
Ironically, the drama is getting spicy as Queen Naija prepares for one of the greatest milestones in her music career. missunderstood will be available on all streaming platforms on Oct. 30.
